The charge-sheet is a document drafted by the police on criminal cases. It is a complete report of investigation and inquiry conducted by Investigation officer on the basis of F.I.R.
A charge-sheet is filed after FIR and police investigation under the section 173 Cr.P.C. It lists out the laws violated by the accused and how the violation was detected. Only an Investigating officer can file a charge-sheet. The Investigating officer gathers all the information on witnesses, circumstantial evidence, materialistic evidence, etc. The charge-sheet is filed approximately within 90 days of crime.
